SOLDIERS. THEY'VE BEEN ACCUSED OF INTENTIONALLY KILLING, WHICH THE GOVERNOR IS OR SAW THIS IS A BLATANT LIE. WE ARE GOING BACK TO THE SHOOTING TAKING PLACE IN -- THE FBI INVESTIGATION TAKING PLACE IN UVALDE, TEXAS, TODAY THREE DAYS AFTER THE SHOOTING IN ROBB ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. TEXAS SENATOR TED CRUZ, SEVERAL OTHER REPUBLICANS, SCHEDULED TO SPEAK DURING THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION DAYS LONG EVENT. TO DISCUSS THIS, BRING IN ABC NEWS CARE CORRESPONDENT MARY ALICE PARKS. GOVERNOR ABBOTT, TEXAS GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT, HAS DECIDED TO NOT PHYSICALLY ATTEND TODAY'S EVENT. ARE THERE OTHER BIG NAMES DROPPING OUT? HOW MUCH PRESSURE? HOW MUCH IS THE INCIDENT SLAUGHTER IN UVALDE, WHICH CHANGE WOULD HAPPEN THAT THE NRA CONVENTION. >> YES, TERRY I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT THAT IT IS NOT COMPLETELY DROPPED OUT. HE'S NOT GOING TO APPEAR IN PERSON. BUT HE'S STILL SENDING A VIDEO MESSAGE. HE DID PULL OUT OF THE EVENT. HE WROTE, WHILE BEING A STRONG SUPPORTER OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT NRA MEMBER, I DO KNOW MY PARENTS TODAY TO BRING ANY ADDITIONAL GRIEF TO THE FAMILIES AND ALL THE SUFFERING IN UVALDE. THAT STATEMENT STRIKES ME, IT IS SO TELLING. ON THE ONE HAND, SOME OF THOSE POLITICIANS WERE TELLING ME, AND WERE SPECIALLY AWARE THAT SOME OF THE POLITICIANS AT THIS A TEN ACTION COULD BRING EXTRA GRIEF TO THE FAMILY. BUT ALSO UNDERSCORING THAT HE UNDERSTANDS HE IS STILL A PROUD SUPPORTER OF THE NRA. WHICH IS REALLY GETS AT THIS TENSION, UNBELIEVABLE JUST FOR THE POLITICAL DIVIDE RIGHT NOW. I DON'T THINK WE'RE GONNA SEE MUCH OF A, DIFFERENCE TO BE HONEST. I THINK WE STILL HAVE A LOT OF THESE HIGH-PROFILE REPUBLICAN SENATORS THAT ARE PLANNING TO SPEAK. AND FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP IS THE KEYNOTE. IT IS HARD TO IMAGINE THAT WE SEE SOME CHANGE IN TONE THAT HAS NOT BEEN THE CASE AFTER OTHER MASS SHOOTINGS THAT PASSED. >> THERE WILL BE THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS THOUGH, I AM SURE. MARY ALICE, WHATEVER MESSAGE CAN EXPECT FROM DONALD TRUMP ON THE OTHER SPEAKERS? IN THE WAKE OF THIS SHOOTING IN EOVALDI? >> DONALD TRUMP IS SO INTERESTING. THE FORMER PRESIDENT, WE ALL REMEMBER THAT A MOMENT AFTER EL PASO, AFTER THE MASS SHOOTING IN LAS VEGAS, THESE MOMENTS WHERE PRESIDENT TRUMP IN THE WHITE HOUSE ACTUALLY TRIED TO BRING MEMBERS OF BOTH SIDES, BIPARTISAN GROUPS OF SENATORS, TOGETHER. HE TALKED ABOUT WANTING, TO IN HIS OWN WORDS, STAND UP TO THE NRA. NOT BE SCARED OF THE NRA. THOUGHT THERE WAS SOMETHING TO BE DONE. IT IS INTERESTING TO SEE FROM A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT. I THOUGHT, OH MY GOSH, COULD THIS BE THE MOMENT THAT CONGRESS DOES SOMETHING? THERE IS A REPUBLICAN PRESENT TALKING ABOUT IT? BUT THEN, VERY QUICKLY, HE CHANGES TO. AND THE GUN CONTROL GUN SAFETY LEGISLATION WENT NOWHERE. AND HE FULLY EMBRACED THAT POSTURE THAT OF THE NRA, WHICH IS THAT ANY RESTRICTION, ANY CALL TO LIMIT THE SALES OR THE PERMISSION AND SALES OF WEAPONS, WOULD SOMEHOW BE THE BEGINNING OF A SLIPPERY SLOPE. AND HE JUST REALLY CHANGED HIS TUNE. SO IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO HEAR WHAT HE HAS TO SAY. I'M EXPECTING WILL BE A FULL-THROATED ENDORSEMENT OF THE NRA, WHICH SO FAR SEEM TO BE ONE OF MORGAN'S ALL OF THE TIME ANYWHERE ANYTIME.
