NUMBER ONE NEWS SOURCE. >> I'M DIANE MACEDO TODAY ON "ABC NEWS LIVE". BREAKING NEWS AFTER NEARLY THREE HUNDRED DAYS IN A RUSSIAN PRISON, PRESIDENT PUTIN HAS ANNOUNCED BRITTNEY GRINER IS FREE. THE PRESIDENT AGREED TO SWAP THE NBA STAR WITH CONVICTED ARMS DEALER VIKTOR BOUT NOW ON HIS WAY BACK TO RUSSIA. WE HAVE MORE ON THE DEAL AND HOW IT CAME TOGETHER. NEW GUNFIRE AT AN ENERGY FACILITY IN SOUTH CAROLINA. IT COMES AMID AN INVESTIGATION INTO A POWER GRID SABOTAGE IN NORTH CAROLINA. AUTHORITIES ARE NOW SEEKING FEDERAL SEARCH WARRANTS AND OTHER POWER SUBSTATION ATTACKS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE BEING REPORTED TO THE FBI AND A POSSIBLE NEW LEAD OUT OF IDAHO WHERE AUTHORITIES SAY THEY'RE LOOKING FOR A CAR LIKE THIS IN THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE MURDER OF FOUR COLLEGE STUDENTS. WE HAVE THE LATEST ON THAT AND HOW NEWLY OBTAINED POLICE BODY CAMERA FOOTAGE COULD PLAY A PART IN THE CASE. >> WELL, WE BEGIN WITH BRITTNEY GRINER, FREED FROM A RUSSIAN PENAL COLONY. THE U.S. AND RUSSIA STRUCK A DEAL EXCHANGING THE WNBA STAR'S RELEASE FOR THAT OF CONVICTED RUSSIAN ARMS DEALER VIKTOR BHOOT. PRESIDENT BRIDON SAYS GRINER WILL NOW SOON BE BACK HOME AFTER PAINSTAKING, INTENSE NEGOTIATIONS. CHIEF WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT CECILIA VEGA HAS THE LATEST ON THIS MORNING. WNBA STAR BRITTNEY GRINER IS ON HER WAY HOME TO THE UNITED STATES. >> SHE'S SAFE. SHE'S ON A PLANE. >> SHE'S ON HER WAY HOME. GRINER RELEASED AS PART OF A ONE FOR ONE PRISONER SWAP WITH RUSSIAN VICTOR BOOT, AN INTERNATIONAL ARMS DEALER WITH SUSPECTED TIES TO RUSSIAN INTELLIGENCE WHO WAS SERVING A 25 YEAR SENTENCE IN THE U.S.. PRESIDENT BIDEN TWEETING OUT THESE PHOTOS WITH GREINER'S WIFE, SHERYL, AND VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS AND SECRETARY OF STATE ANTHONY BLINKEN. THERE IN THE OVAL OFFICE AS THEY SPOKE TO GRINER ON THE PHONE JUST MOMENTS AGO. >> PRESIDENT BIDEN ADDRESSING THE NATION. I'M GLAD TO BE ABLE TO SAY THAT BRITAIN IS IN GOOD SPIRITS, SHE CHIHULY, TO FINALLY BE HEADING HOME. >> SHERYL ALSO JOINING THE PRESIDENT AT THE PODIUM. >> SO THIS IS A HAPPY DAY FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. SO I'M GOING TO SMILE RIGHT NOW. >> NINE MONTHS AGO, GRINER WAS ARRESTED AT A MOSCOW AIRPORT FOR CARRYING VAPE CARTRIDGES CONTAINING HASH OIL. THE SEVEN TIME ALL-STAR ADMITTED TO MISTAKENLY PUTTING TWO CARTRIDGES IN HER LUGGAGE, BUT ALSO PROVIDING DOCUMENTS SHOWING SHE HAD A PRESCRIPTION FROM AN AMERICAN DOCTOR. A RUSSIAN COURT SENTENCING HER TO NINE YEARS. AND SHE WAS RECENTLY TRANSFERRED TO A RUSSIAN PENAL COLONY IN MAY. >> CHERYL GRINER OPENED UP TO ROBIN ABOUT THE MOMENT SHE LEARNED HER WIFE WAS DETAINED. >> IT'S MY LIFE. SO AS MUCH AS I WANT TO GO IN A BED OR LAY ON THIS COUCH BECAUSE THE FIRST WEEK A LITTLE OUT AND CRYING, I WAS OUT, YOU KNOW, I WAS NUMB. I COULDN'T MOVE. AND THEN I SAID, YOU GOT TO GET . >> NOW, SHARELLE NEVER GIVING UP HOPE IN THE FIGHT FOR BRITNEY'S FREEDOM HAS BEEN COMFORTING TO SEE ALL THE WNBA COURTS WITH BIG 40 TO. YES, BUT I THINK MORE SPECIFICALLY, A COOPERSBURG LETS HER KNOW SHE'S NOT FORGOT IT. AND MIKE, OBVIOUSLY, YOU KNOW, WERE YOU SITTING IN YOUR COUNTRY HAVING COMING TO THE RESCUE YET? I KNOW THAT IT MAKES HER FEEL GOOD, YOU KNOW, BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T WANT TO BE FORGOTTEN. YOU KNOW, AND THOSE SMALL MOMENTS, LIKE I KNOW, GIVE HER SOME TYPE OF HOPE. THANKS TO CECILIA VEGA FOR THAT REPORT. I WANT TO BRING IN OUR CHIEF GLOBAL AFFAIRS CORRESPONDENT, MARTHA RADDATZ NOW FOR MORE ON THIS. MARTHA, BRITTNEY GRINER WAS DETAINED BACK IN FEBRUARY AND THESE NEGOTIATIONS STARTED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. SO WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT WHAT WENT INTO THOSE MONTHS TO FINALLY HAVE THIS COME TOGETHER NOW? >> I THINK SO MANY PEOPLE WERE WORKING ON THIS DIANE SAWYER AND TRULY FULL TIME TRYING TO GET BRITTNEY GRINER RELEASED. THIS ALL CAME TOGETHER, ACCORDING TO A SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL, IN THE LAST 48 HOURS. IF YOU RECALL, PRESIDENT BIDEN RECENTLY SAID THAT AFTER THE MIDTERMS, THAT NOW THAT THIS IS OVER, MAYBE RUSSIA CAN REALLY CONCENTRATE ON THIS ONCE AGAIN. AND WE AND WE CAN GET BRITTNEY GRINER FREED. THEY, OF COURSE, WANTED PAUL WHEELIN FREED AS WELL. HE IS HE IS FACING MUCH, MUCH MORE SERIOUS CHARGES. THE CHARGES OF SPYING, CONVICTED OF SPYING IN IN RUSSIA. SO THAT HAS BEEN A DIFFICULT DEAL. BUT HIS FAMILY HAS BEEN SO GRACIOUS TODAY, SO GRACIOUS, HIS HIS TWIN BROTHER SAYING THEY ARE ELATED OVER THE RELEASE OF BRITTNEY GRINER, BUT, OF COURSE, DEVASTATED THAT PAUL WHEELIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT. THEY HAD A HEADS UP THAT SHE WAS ABOUT TO BE RELEASED AND VOWED TO KEEP FIGHTING FOR HIS RELEASE. AS WE AS WE HEARD PRESIDENT BIDEN SAY AGAIN TODAY AS WELL, THAT THE THEY WILL NOT GIVE UP EVER IN TRYING TO GET PAUL WHEELIN RELEASE. WE'RE ALSO TOLD AND THIS IS NO SURPRISE, THAT BRITTNEY GRINER IS AN EXTREMELY GOOD SPIRITS. SHE IS SMILING ALL THE TIME. THE EXCHANGE, OF COURSE, IN ABU DHABI. YOU SEE CECILIA POINTED OUT, AND THAT'S WHERE SHE WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THE WITH THE PRESIDENT AND HER WIFE, SHERYL, ON THAT TARMAC. THAT'S WHERE THAT HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER HER RELEASE, RIGHT AFTER THAT EXCHANGE WITH VICTOR BOOT. >> NOW, WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT VICTOR BOOD? HE WAS CONVICTED AS A RUSSIAN ARMS DEALER. WHAT DOES THIS RELEASE MEAN FOR RUSSIA, FOR THE U.S., FOR THE WORLD? >> WELL, HE WAS KNOWN AS THE MERCHANT OF DEATH HERE, A FLEET OF PLANES WHICH HE USED TO FLY ARMS AROUND THE WORLD, CALLED IT CAUSING CARNAGE IN PLACES LIKE AFRICA. IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. IT WAS ALL ABOUT PROVIDING ARMS TO WHOEVER HAD THE MONEY. HE APPARENTLY VIOLATED UN SANCTIONS AND ALL SORTS OF MANDATES THAT CERTAIN ARMS NOT BE SENT TO CERTAIN COUNTRIES WHERE PEOPLE WERE BEING MURDERED OR WHETHER IT WAS, THOSE KINDS OF ISSUES. HE WAS CAUGHT IN A STING OPERATION BY THE DEA, DEA. HE WAS SERVING TWENTY FIVE YEAR SENTENCE. NOW, THERE HAS BEEN SPECULATION ,SUSPICION THAT HE WAS A RUSSIAN INTELLIGENCE OFFICER SOMEHOW TIED TO RUSSIAN INTELLIGENCE. BUT THE FEELING IS THAT NOW HE HAS BEEN IN JAIL FOR QUITE SOME TIME, THAT HIS VALUE AS AN INTELLIGENCE ASSET IS PRETTY MUCH RUN ITS COURSE. SO WITH THE BRITTNEY GRINER SITUATION, WITH SO MANY PROMINENT OFFICIALS, HER FAMILY, WNBA STARS, NBA STARS LIKE LEBRON JAMES, AND STEPH CURRY, ALL PUSHING AND SAYING, GET THIS WOMAN HOME. IT IS JUST A DISASTER TO SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH HANDLING A HASHEESH. OIL IS FACING A NINE YEAR SENTENCE. SO IT WAS IMPERATIVE TO TRY TO GET THIS RESOLVED. AND LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THE ADMINISTRATION CLEARLY VERY HAPPY TODAY, AS IS THE AND FAMILY. I WANT TO BRING IN SENIOR WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT MARY BRUCE FOR MORE ON THE REACTION TO THIS MARY. BECAUSE ORIGINALLY WHEN THIS WAS PUT FORWARD MONTHS AGO, THE ADMINISTRATION WAS TRYING TO GET THE RELEASE, BRITTNEY GRINER AND PAUL WHEELIN IN EXCHANGE FOR VICTOR BOOT, A WILLINS FAMILY NOW SAYS THEY KNEW PRETTY EARLY ON THAT THAT WAS NOT ACTUALLY ON THE TABLE. SO WHAT IS THE REACTION IN WASHINGTON NOW TO THIS FINAL DEAL? >> BRITTNEY GRINER FOR VICTOR. WE ARE JUST ACTUALLY LEARNING SOME MORE DETAILS ABOUT THESE NEGOTIATIONS AND HOW ALL OF THIS CAME TOGETHER. AND I JUST CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH THAT THIS REALLY WAS JUST IN THE LAST FEW DAYS, JUST IN THE LAST 48 HOURS, REALLY, THAT ALL OF THIS FINALLY CAME INTO PLACE. AS YOU MENTIONED, THE WHITE HOUSE, WE KNOW, MADE ACTUALLY A REALLY REMARKABLE STEP OF GOING PUBLIC, WHICH WOULD SAY AT THE TIME CALLED THAT SUBSTANTIAL OFFER. THAT WAS BACK IN JULY, HOPING TO SECURE THE RELEASE OF BOTH GRINER AND WHEELIN IN EXCHANGE FOR VIKTOR BOUT. THE RUSSIANS REJECTED THAT OUT OF HAND AND ACCORDING TO ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS, IT WAS REALLY JUST IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS THAT IT BECAME VERY CLEAR THAT RUSSIA WAS REALLY ONLY GOING TO BE WILLING TO DO A ONE FOR ONE SWAP, THAT THEY WERE ONLY GOING TO BE WILLING TO TRADE VICTOR BOOT FOR BRITTNEY GRINER, BECAUSE, OF COURSE, THEY VIEW WIELAND'S CASE BECAUSE IS THIS SHAM ESPIONAGE CHARGE. THEY VIEW IT VERY DIFFERENTLY. AND YOU HEARD THE PRESIDENT TODAY STRESSING PUBLICLY SAYING THAT THIS WAS REALLY NOT A CHOICE OF WHICH AMERICAN TO BRING HOME. THIS WAS NOT UP TO JOE BIDEN. THEY WANTED, OF COURSE, BOTH WHEELIN AND GRINER TO COME HOME, BUT THAT THE RUSSIANS MADE VERY CLEAR THE ONLY THING THEY WERE GOING TO BE WILLING TO NEGOTIATE HERE WAS THE RELEASE OF BRITTNEY GRINER. SO THE PRESIDENT MADE THE INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT CHOICE OF GOING FORWARD WITH THIS. AND THE ADMINISTRATION ALSO STRESSING NOW THAT THEY DID REACH OUT TO PAUL WHEELIN IN THE LAST FEW IN THE LAST TWENTY FOUR HOURS TO DISCUSS WITH HIM PERSONALLY, PROBABLY THE FAMILY EXCUSE ME, POLAND FAMILY TO DISCUSS WITH THEM PERSONALLY THIS DECISION, HOW THEY CAME TO THIS, WHY THE EFFORTS THAT THEY ARE CONTINUING TO MAKE TO RELEASE WHEELIN GOING THROUGH GREINER'S CASE. SO THEY ARE, OF COURSE, STILL WORKING ON THIS. WANT TO SEE WHEELIN COME HOME. BUT THEY SAW THE OPPORTUNITY HERE TO GET BRITTNEY GRINER RELEASED AND, OF COURSE, FELT THEY HAD TO GO FORWARD WITH THIS. AND EVEN WHALEN'S FAMILY IS SAYING THEY ARE PRAISING PRESIDENT BIDEN FOR MAKING THE DEAL THAT COULD BE MADE INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR A DEAL THAT WASN'T POSSIBLE. I WANT TO BRING IN COLONEL STEVE GENYA FOR A LITTLE BIT MORE ON THE SECURITY ASPECT OF THIS AND SORT OF THE LARGER GLOBAL IMPLICATIONS HERE. WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THE TIMING OF THIS, GIVEN RUSSIAN TROOPS ARE NOW FACING SEEMINGLY MORE TROUBLE IN UKRAINE? HAVING A HARDER TIME THERE? AND WHEN YOU LOOK AT VLADIMIR PUTIN'S MOTIVE, HOW CALCULATED DO YOU THINK THIS TIMING IS? >> YEAH, IT ALWAYS COMES BACK TO PUTIN'S ABILITY TO INFLUENCE GLOBAL EVENTS. AND IN THIS CASE, HE WANTS SANCTIONS AND ALL OF THE GLOBAL SANCTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN IMPOSED UPON RUSSIA LIFTED OR AT LEAST GET SOME RELIEF. AND SO HE SAW THAT PRETTY GREINER'S PUBLIC PUBLICITY AND THE OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT FOR HER OVER TIME WOULD DIMINISH. I MEAN, SHE'S IN JAIL OVER TIME. HE PROBABLY MADE THE CALCULATION THAT VALUE HER VALUE TO HIM AS A NEGOTIATING TOOL. WOULD DIMINISH. SO HE PROBABLY MADE THE BEST BET THAT HE THOUGHT HE COULD MAKE AT THE TIME. IT'S SOMETHING THAT THE PRESIDENT BIDEN COULD NOT GET AROUND. HE COULD NOT BEGIN TO HAVE DISCUSSIONS WITH THE RUSSIANS OR AT LEAST BACK CHANNEL DISCUSSIONS UNTIL HE REMOVED THIS THIS IS DOMESTIC POLITICS FOR BIDEN TO BE ABLE TO REMOVE THIS IRRITANT THAT BRITTNEY GRINER WAS STILL BEING HELD. SO THE IDEA HERE IS THAT PUTIN PLAYED HIS HAND WHEN HE THOUGHT HE HAD THE BEST DEAL TO TO TO GAIN. BUT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO TO UKRAINE AND TRYING TO GET SOME SANCTIONS RELIEF OR AT LEAST BEGIN TO OPEN UP A DISCUSSION ABOUT HOW TO END THE WAR IN UKRAINE. >> AND LET ME BRING IN SECURITY AND DEFENSE ANALYST MCMORROW FOR MORE ON THAT PART OF IT. MAKE FOR VLADIMIR PUTIN. IS THIS MORE ABOUT JUST THE VISUAL WAY TO SHOW SOME POWER AND A WAY TO STEVE SAYS, MAYBE HAVE SOME LEVERAGE TO LOOSEN UP SOME SANCTIONS OR COULD VICTOR BOOD ACTUALLY PROVIDE RUSSIA WITH SOME HELP, EITHER IN UKRAINE OR OTHER AREAS OF THE WORLD? >> SO I AND I THINK, YOU KNOW, THERE IS SOME SPECULATION THAT HE WOULD BE ABLE TO ASSIST IN ACQUIRING WEAPONS AND MUNITIONS. I THINK HE'S, QUITE FRANKLY, SO DATED AND SO TOXIC THAT IT'S PROBABLY NOT THE CASE. >> I DO THINK PRESIDENT PUTIN IS GOING TO USE THIS TO SHOW THAT HE IS ON THE SAME DIPLOMATIC PLANE AS THE UNITED STATES, THAT HE CONSIDERS THIS VICTOR THE AND PROBABLY WILL PLAY IT UP AS SUCH. AND RUSSIA AND YES, ABSOLUTELY. LIKE STEVE SAID, HE WANTS ANY KIND OF SANCTIONS RELIEF HE CAN GET. I'M SURE IT'S IT'S CRUSHING THE RUSSIAN ECONOMY. AS IT WAS INTENDED TO DO. AND HE IS LOSING, QUITE FRANKLY, AND FAILING TO MEET ANY OF HIS STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES IN UKRAINE. AND I THINK THAT IS OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE, INCLUDING PRESIDENT PUTIN. >> ALL RIGHT, MARTHA, MARY MIC, STEVE, THANK YOU ALL. TURNING NOW TO A SHOOTING NEAR DUKE ENERGY FACILITY IN SOUTH CAROLINA. IT COMES JUST DAYS AFTER ATTACK ON TWO DUKE ENERGY SUBSTATIONS IN NORTH CAROLINA. INVESTIGATORS HAVE NOW FILED FOR FEDERAL SEARCH WARRANTS IN THE NORTH CAROLINA SHOOTING AND NOW POWER STATIONS. OTHER STATES ARE REPORTING RECENT ATTACKS. AT LEAST FIVE POWER SUBSTATIONS WERE REPORTEDLY ATTACKED IN OREGON AND WASHINGTON LAST MONTH. ABC NEWS CONTRIBUTOR AND FORMER ACTING UNDERSECRETARY FOR INTELLIGENCE, THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, JOHN COHEN, IS HERE WITH MORE ON THAT. JOHN, THANKS FOR BEING HERE. MORE AND MORE POWER COMPANIES ARE NOW REPORTING RECENT ATTACKS TO THE FBI. HOW CONCERNING IS THAT? WELL, IT IS CONCERNING FOR MONTHS WHAT LAW ENFORCEMENT HAS BEEN EVALUATING CONTENT ON NEO-NAZI AND ANTI-GOVERNMENT FORUMS, NOT ONLY CALLING FOR THESE TYPES OF ATTACKS, BUT PROVIDING INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL ON HOW PEOPLE CAN CONDUCT ATTACKS. THERE HAVE BEEN PAST INCIDENTS ATTRIBUTED TO NEO-NAZI ANTI-GOVERNMENT EXTREMISTS WHERE THEY'VE ACTUALLY SOUGHT TO DAMAGE PARTS OF THE POWER GRID. AND NOW WE'RE GOING BACK AND SEEING THAT THERE WERE A NUMBER OF SUSPICIOUS INCIDENTS GOING BACK MONTHS, IF NOT YEARS. AND SO THE FBI IS TAKING A LOOK AT THOSE AS WELL. >> SO, JOHN, WHAT GOES INTO AN INVESTIGATION LIKE THIS NOW THAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT MULTIPLE INCIDENTS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE LINKED? YEAH, THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION. SO THE FIRST THING THEY'RE GOING TO WANT TO DO IN THE CASE OF NORTH CAROLINA AND THEN THE RECENT SOUTH CAROLINA CASE THAT YOU DESCRIBED EARLIER IS IDENTIFY THE SUSPECT OR SUSPECTS AND THEY'LL TRY TO ASCERTAIN WHAT THEIR MOTIVE WAS. WAS WAS THIS AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS WHO WERE DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEES? DID THEY HAVE SOME TYPE OF PERSONAL GRIEVANCE WITH THE POWER COMPANY OR WITH OTHER EMPLOYEES OF THE POWER COMPANY? OR WERE THEY IDEOLOGICALLY MOTIVATED? THEN THEY'LL WANT TO TAKE A LOOK AT WHETHER THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHERE THEY DERIVED THEIR INSPIRATION, WHERE DID THEY GET THEIR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS? WERE THEY IN CONTACT WITH OTHERS? AND THEY'LL TRY TO ASSESS WHETHER THIS IS AN ENTERPRISE ACTIVITY, MEANING IS THIS AN ORGANIZED ACTIVITY THAT'S THAT'S BEING CONDUCTED ACROSS THE COUNTRY TARGETING THIS PART OF THE POWER GRID? >> ALL RIGHT, JOHN, WE APPRECIATE THE ANALYSIS, AS ALWAYS. THANK YOU. MEANWHILE, MORE CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS HAVE BEEN FOUND AT A STORAGE UNIT USED BY FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP. THE DISCOVERY CAME AFTER A FEDERAL JUDGE ORDERED TRUMP TO DO A MORE THOROUGH SEARCH OF HIS PROPERTIES. ABC'S SENIOR INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER AARON KATERSKY JOINS ME LIVE NOW FOR MORE ON THIS. AARON, HOW SIGNIFICANT IS THIS DISCOVERY? >> THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT DISCOVERY BECAUSE IT RAISES THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT HAS RECOVERED ALL THE CLASSIFIED MATERIALS THAT TRUMP OR HIS AIDES TOOK FROM THE WHITE HOUSE AND MOVED DOWN TO FLORIDA, WHERE THIS STORAGE UNIT WAS LOCATED. A FEDERAL JUDGE IN WASHINGTON, WE'RE TOLD, HAD ORDERED TRUMP'S LAWYERS TO DO A MORE THOROUGH SEARCH FOR CLASSIFIED MATERIALS . AND SO TRUMP HIRED AN OUTSIDE FIRM TO SEARCH FOUR OF HIS PROPERTIES, THIS STORAGE UNIT BEING ONE OF THEM, HIS GOLF CLUB IN BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY, WHERE HE SPENDS THE SUMMERS TRUMP TOWER IN NEW YORK BEING AMONG THE OTHERS. AND THE SEARCH TURNED UP AT LEAST TWO MORE DOCUMENTS WITH CLASSIFIED MARKINGS. THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT WAS ALERTED AND WHILE THEY DIDN'T COMMENT, THOSE TWO DOCUMENTS NOW BECOME PART OF THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION THAT'S BEING LED NOW BY A SPECIAL COUNSEL. >> SO WHAT'S THE RESPONSE FROM PRESIDENT, FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP OR HIS TEAM? >> AND COULD THIS LEAD TO NOW A LARGER SEARCH? >> WELL, THE TRUMP SIDE SAYS THAT THIS IS THEM BEING COOPERATIVE, THAT THEY HAD THIS REQUEST FROM THE FEDERAL JUDGE AND THEY WANTED TO BE AS TRANSPARENT AND OPEN AND HELPFUL AS POSSIBLE TO TRY TO RECOVER ALL OF THESE DOCUMENTS. >> THEY STILL HAVE NOT ANSWERED THE QUESTION AS TO WHY THE DOCUMENTS WERE MOVED IN THE FIRST PLACE FROM THE WHITE HOUSE WHERE THEY RIGHTFULLY BELONGED, AND THEN INTO THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES DOWN TO FLORIDA. THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING THAT PIECE AND WHETHER THERE WAS ANY ATTEMPT TO OBSTRUCT THAT INVESTIGATION WHEN THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND THEN THE FBI CAME KNOCKING AT QUITE A FEW SEARCHES DONE ALREADY. >> AARON KATERSKY, THANK YOU. >> COMING UP, A POSSIBLE NEW LEAD IN THE MURDERS OF FOUR UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO STUDENTS. SEE THE NEW POLICE BODY CAMERA FOOTAGE JUST RELEASED. >> STAY WITH US. HOW ARE YOU? >> OH, NOW THAT'S HOW YOU START TODAY. PEOPLE. WELCOME BACK. WE'RE LEARNING ABOUT NEW CLUES IN THE UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO MURDERS. AUTHORITIES ARE NOW WORKING TO TRACK DOWN A VEHICLE THEY SAY COULD BE RELATED TO THE CASE THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE THIS ONE. >> ABC NEWS MOLA LENGHI HAS THE LATEST. >> A NEW CLUE IN THE SEARCH FOR THE KILLER OF FOUR UNIVERSITY, IDAHO, STUDENTS. DETECTIVES NOW ASKING THE PUBLIC FOR HELP LOCATING A WHITE 2011 TO 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA, SIMILAR TO THESE STOCK PHOTOS WITH AN UNKNOWN LICENSE PLATE SAYING THEY'RE INTERESTED . SPEAKING WITH ITS OCCUPANTS WHO MAY HAVE CRITICAL INFORMATION TO SHARE REGARDING THIS CASE. POLICE ALSO SAYING THE CAR WAS SEEN IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA OF THE HOME WHERE THE VICTIMS WERE KILLED EARLY ON NOVEMBER 13TH. >> THAT CAN MEAN A NUMBER OF THINGS. IT COULD BE THAT THEY HAVE ELIMINATED ALL THE CARS IN THE PROXIMITY OF THE VICTIM HOUSE. THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT OR WHY THIS CAR WAS THERE THAT NIGHT. THIS COULD BE JUST AN ELIMINATION. >> IT COULD BE A WITNESS OR IT COULD BE A SUSPECT. NOW, AS THE INVESTIGATION ENTERS ITS TWENTY SIXTH DAY, ABC NEWS TAINING NEW BODY CAMERA FOOTAGE FROM THAT NIGHT SHOWING AN UNRELATED ALEX STONE NEARBY AT ABOUT 3:00 A.M. AROUND THE TIME AUTHORITIES BELIEVE THE MURDER TOOK PLACE. POLICE STOPPING THREE PEOPLE FOR AN ALCOHOL OFFENSE IN A FIELD NEAR THE VICTIM'S HOME AND NEAR THE SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY WHERE TWO OF THE VICTIMS, ZANA CANOODLE AND ETHAN SHAPEN, HAD BEEN EARLIER THAT NIGHT. >> PEOPLE IN THE VIDEO HAVE BEEN CLEARED AND THE INCIDENT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE MURDERS. BUT ANALYSTS SAY THE VIDEO COULD STILL BE USED IN THE CASE . >> IT CAN BE USED FROM A HISTORIC STANDPOINT. THAT INFORMATION COULD POTENTIALLY BECOME RELEVANT LATER IN THE INVESTIGATION BECAUSE YOU JUST NEVER KNOW THE VICTIM'S REMAINS AN ACTIVE CRIME SCENE. BUT ON WEDNESDAY, INVESTIGATORS GATHERING ITEMS NO LONGER NEEDED IN THE INVESTIGATION TO GIVE TO THE VICTIMS FAMILIES . >> WE JUST WENT IN TO GATHER BELONGINGS SO THAT THE FAMILY CAN HAVE SOME OF THAT STUFF. YOU KNOW, WE HAVE A JOB TO DO AND I'M GOING TO DO IT TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY. AND WE SHOW THIS TO THE FAMILY VIOLENCE, TO THE VICTIMS. >> MOLA LENGHI, THANK YOU FOR THAT. AND ABC NEWS CONTRIBUTOR, FORMER FBI AGENT BRAD GARRETT JOINS ME LIVE NOW FOR MORE ON THIS. BRAD, THE PEOPLE IN THIS NEW BODY CAM VIDEO, THEY'VE BEEN CLEARED. POLICE SAY THE INCIDENT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE MURDERS. SO HOW DOES THIS NEW BODY CAM FOOTAGE MAKE A DIFFERENCE? IN THIS MURDER INVESTIGATION? WELL, IT MAY MAKE NO DIFFERENCE. IT JUST REALLY DEPENDS. NOW, THE IDEA THAT COLLEGE AGE KIDS AT WEE HOURS IN THE MORNING WERE STOPPED FOR ALCOHOL OFFENSES. >> OBVIOUSLY, IT OCCURS EVERY NIGHT. SO WE'LL HAVE TO SEE HOW THAT PLAYS OUT. THE MORE INTRIGUING ASPECT OF THESE NEW LEADS, DIANE, IS THIS. THIS VEHICLE, BECAUSE AS YOU MENTIONED, EARLIER, I MENTIONED EARLIER THAT WE JUST DON'T KNOW THE CONTEXT. AND IS THIS A VEHICLE WHERE SOMEONE SAW AN INDIVIDUAL IN THE SHADOWS WALK FROM THE HOUSE TO THAT VEHICLE AND LEAVE IT? HAS IT BEEN PARKED THERE FOR SEVERAL DAYS? DOES THAT PERSON POTENTIALLY WHO OWNS THAT CAR? A WITNESS? WE JUST DON'T KNOW. BUT OBVIOUSLY, THE LAW ENFORCEMENT IS CONCERNED ENOUGH. THEY NEED TO IDENTIFY, FIRST OF ALL, THAT VEHICLE AND OBVIOUSLY THE OWNER OR MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE OCCUPY OF THAT VEHICLE ON THE WEE MORNING HOURS, NOVEMBER 13TH. >> DETECTIVES ARE NOW ASKING THE PUBLIC FOR HELP IN LOCATING THIS CAR WITH AN UNKNOWN LICENSE PLATE THEY SAY WAS SEEN IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA OF THE HOME WHEN THE VICTIMS WERE KILLED EARLY ON NOVEMBER 13TH. WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS ALL MEANS? COULD THIS BE A KEY PIECE OF EVIDENCE OR DOES THIS SOUND LIKE INVESTIGATORS ARE STILL KIND OF JUST LOOKING IN ANY DIRECTION POSSIBLE? >> OR IT COULD GO EITHER DIRECTION? WE DON'T KNOW IN WHAT CONTEXT THEY'RE LOOKING AT THIS VEHICLE. YOU KNOW, DO THEY HAVE INFORMATION OF SOMEONE GOING FROM THE HOUSE TO THIS VEHICLE? WAS IT PARKED? THERE WAS SOMEBODY SEEN IN THE VEHICLE. SO IT COULD BE A WITNESS. IT COULD BE A SUSPECT, OR IT JUST COULD BE A CAR THAT THEY HAVEN'T ELIMINATED. ONE OF THE THINGS YOU DO AS YOU PULL UP ALL THE CCTV AND TALK TO ALL THE WITNESSES ABOUT WHAT CARS WERE PARKED WHERE AND YOU START TO ELIMINATE THEM, THIS CAR MAY FALL INTO THAT CATEGORY . ALL RIGHT, BRAD GARRETT, THANK YOU. >> COMING UP, IT IS LATINA EQUAL PAY DAY. WE WHY LATINA WOMEN TYPICALLY MAKE FIFTY SEVEN CENTS TO EVERY DOLLAR COMPARED TO WHITE NON HISPANIC MEN. AND WHAT CAN BE DONE AFTER THIS LIVE PRIME WITH LINSEY DAVIS SCREENING WEEKNIGHTS. WELCOME BACK. TODAY IS LATINA EQUAL PAY DAY, THE DATE THAT SYMBOLIZES HOW FAR INTO THE YEAR LATINA WOMEN MUST WORK TO EARN WHAT WHITE MEN EARNED ON AVERAGE LAST YEAR, ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL WOMEN'S LAW CENTER, LATINA WOMEN WHO WORK FULL TIME AND YEAR ROUND TYPICALLY MAKE FIFTY SEVEN CENTS TO EVERY DOLLAR EARNED BY WHITE, NON HISPANIC MEN. JASMINE TUCKER, DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH AT THE NATIONAL WOMEN'S LAW CENTER, JOINS ME NOW TO TALK MORE ABOUT THIS. JASMINE, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE. WHAT HAVE YOU FOUND? ARE THE MAIN BARRIERS PREVENTING WOMEN FROM BEING ABLE TO MAKE MORE MONEY AND CLOSE THIS WAGE GAP? >> YEAH, THERE'S REALLY A WHOLE HOST OF THINGS THAT ARE AT PLAY HERE. BUT I THINK THE FIRST THING TO NAME IS SORT OF THE RACISM AND SEXISM THAT LATINAS ARE FACING IN THE WORKFORCE. THEY'RE NOT WORKING. YOU KNOW, HALF AS HARD. THEY'RE NOT WORTH HALF AS LAST HALF AS MUCH. THEY ARE THEY'RE WORKING REALLY HARD OR IN LOTS OF DIFFERENT JOBS. THEY'RE IN FRONT LINE JOBS, HIGH PAID JOBS, LOW PAID JOBS. AND IN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE, THEY CAN'T AVOID A WAGE GAP. SO EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE THE SAME EXACT QUALIFICATIONS AS WHITE MEN, IN THEIR FIELD, THEY'RE BEING PAID LESS. AND SO I DON'T SEE ANYTHING ELSE THAT EXPLAINS THAT EXCEPT THE RACISM AND SEXISM THAT THEY'RE FACING IN THE WORKPLACE. IS THERE A SENSE OF HOW THIS PAY GAP PLAYS OUT OVER TIME? >> DOES IT GET WORSE? DOES IT GET BETTER? AND DOES IT AFFECT PARTICULAR GROUPS OF WOMEN MORE THAN OTHERS? >> YEAH, YES. I THINK THAT THERE'S SORT OF A NOTION THAT LATINOS ARE SORT OF A HOMOGENOUS GROUP, AND THAT'S REALLY NOT TRUE. RIGHT. THERE ARE WHITE LATINOS. THERE ARE BLACK LATINAS. RIGHT. AND EVERY OTHER STATE IN BETWEEN. AND, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE ALL FACING SORT OF DIFFERENT FACTORS HERE. AND WE'RE SEEING THOSE WHO MIGHT HAVE MORE ACCESS. RIGHT. THEY MIGHT MAKE A LITTLE BIT MORE. BUT WHAT WE SEE IN, YOU KNOW, WHEN WOMEN GAIN, WHEN LATINAS GAIN MORE EDUCATION, THE WAGE GAP ACTUALLY WIDENS FOR THEM, BECAUSE WHAT WE SEE IS A MUCH HIGHER BONUS FOR WHITE MEN WHO AT HIGHER LEVELS OF EDUCATION. AND SO LATINAS GET A SMALLER BONUS AND SO THAT SORT OF ACCUMULATES OVER TIME. AND SO WHEN WE'RE LOOKING AT SORT OF LATINAS OVERALL, THIS WAGE GAP COST THEM TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS EVERY YEAR. AND WHEN WE LOOK AT A 40 YEAR CAREER, IT'S A LOSS OF ALMOST ONE POINT TWO MILLION DOLLARS OVER THAT LIFETIME. SO BASICALLY, LATINAS WORK UNTIL THEY DIE AND NEVER CATCH UP TO WHAT WHITE MEN MADE BY AGE 60. >> SO WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS? HOW DO YOU CLOSE THIS GAP? >> I THINK THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE SORT OF A MULTIPRONGED APPROACH HERE. I THINK FIRST WE NEED THE FEDERAL AND STATE POLICIES THAT ARE GOING TO DO THINGS TO MITIGATE THIS. STATES CAN PASS EQUAL PAY LAWS. WE CAN PASS THE PAYCHECK FAIRNESS ACT AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL. AND THEN I THINK BUSINESSES ALSO NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE HERE FOR SOME OF THEIR THE PRACTICES OF HIRING PRACTICES AND THE PAY PRACTICES THAT THEY HAVE AND DO SORT OF AN INTERNAL AUDIT. I THINK EMPLOYERS DON'T NEED TO WAIT UNTIL THERE'S A STATE OR FEDERAL LAW TELLING THEM THAT THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING . THEY CAN START TAKING ACTION NOW AND DO SOME OF THOSE INTERNAL AUDITS. AND I THINK IF IF BUSINESSES ARE REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT THESE EFFORTS THAT THEY'RE DOING, IF THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT DIVERSIFYING THEIR WORKFORCE, THEN THEY NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE PUTTING LATINAS AND BLACK WOMEN AND OTHER WOMEN OF COLOR IN THAT C SUITE. BECAUSE IF WE CONTINUE TO HAVE WHITE MEN IN THE C SUITE OF BUSINESSES, THEN WE'RE NEVER GOING TO HAVE A WORKPLACE THAT REFLECTS THE NEEDS OF LATINOS. >> ALL RIGHT, JASMINE TUCKER, WE APPRECIATE YOUR TIME TODAY. THANK YOU. THANKS FOR HAVING ME. WE'LL BE RIGHT
