We want to turn to now Venus Williams one on one opening up to "Gma." "King Richard" hits theaters this weekend. The biopic that tells a story of her life growing up playing doubles with younger sister Serena, all under the love and guidance of their visionary dad Richard. ABC's zohreen shah sat down with the tennis icon. And, zohreen, good morning to you. Reporter: Hey, good morning, whit. This morning Venus Williams is waking up with a world that has finally seen her entire journey play out on the big screen, but we've known the sisters' success on court was a family affair but what is poised to be a to draw this weekend will also be a family accomplishment. Venus told me there were multiple family members on set every single day making sure they nailed every piece of this journey. We know Venus and Serena Williams as two of the greatest tennis players of all time. Now the movie "King Richard" shedding light on the sisters' childhood journey as tennis prodigies in Compton through Venus' debut in the pros at age 14. I was still holding my breath even though I was there and I know how it ends, still holding my breath. Reporter: She says none of her success would have been without her dad, Richard Williams, played by Will Smith. I think you might just have the next Michael Jordan. Oh, no, brother man. I gots me the next two. Reporter: Who famously planned for his youngest daughters to be tennis greats, even before they were born. I'm very confident. You say it's so easily. Why? Because I believe it. But you haven't played a match in almost three years. Hold it right there. If you don't mind, let me tell you why. Reporter: Fiercely guarded them from the pressures that so many young athletes face. But you can't just keep interrupting. What you got to understand, you're dealing with the image of a 14-year-old child. You are dealing with a little black kid. Let her be a kid. Now she done answered it with a lot of confidence. Leave that alone. He was this larger than life personality and this larger than life philosopher and all these different things that made him king Richard. Will Smith said that your dad was one of the most misunderstood people of his time. People didn't understand him but I think that it didn't take long for people to realize this is a guy who is for his family, for his daughters, ride or die no matter what. Take us back to the '90s. If you had told him then, daddy, there's going to be a movie about you, it's going to be called "King Richard" and it's going to be played by that guy from "Fresh prince," I mean, what would he say? My dad would have said there would be several movies about him. Reporter: Venus says she wants people to know this story isn't just about her and Serena's success on the court but about the way their family has stuck together no matter I think you get to really see the ecosystem of my family is not perfect but all that matters is that you are going in the same direction together and building each other up and that's what we did and that's what we do. Reporter: Something else they've done, Venus created a "King Richard" inspired activewear collection by her brand elevens and captures some of the styles they wore in the '90s and has the essence of her dad and, like this film, it's something she's very proud of. Zohreen, what a great
