- I am here now with a, yes, four-time NBA champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist, father, podcaster, and now the Executive Producer and star of a new series, The Sessions, Draymond Green about his journey to self-awareness. Let's say good morning to Draymond Green. Congratulations are in order. - Thank you, I appreciate it. - Four-time NBA champion, just won a championship. I love this series, The Sessions, Draymond Green. It's very personal and it makes people really take you inside the journey of your life and your feelings and all those things that most athletes accomplish, as you really don't share. We're going to take a look at a clip where you're talking to Deepak Chopra, who asked you to rate aspects of your life on a scale of 1 to 10. This is very interesting. Let's check it out. - How satisfied are you with your athletic performance? - I would say about same, about 7 or 8. - That's pretty good. So on a scale of 1 to 10, how is your emotional life? - Emotional, 4. [SCREAMING] - You're suffering then. Emotionally, you are suffering. - Wow. How is it for you to even hear him tell you that? - That was deep for me because I think the one thing that I didn't realize is how to process all of those feelings. I think growing up, you're just taught to work through it. Especially as an athlete, it's like go through it, you can get through this, you can get through that. And it's on to that next thing, but you never truly allow yourself to live in those emotions, to experience those emotions. And so then how do you ever truly move forward? - And why did you decide to reveal all this? Because it's very personal. - I ultimately decided to for reasons even bigger than myself. I think as athletes, you're often viewed as these superhuman beings and you don't experience emotion. And if you react to something, you're saw for your skin is not thick enough. And so, for me, as a guy who's viewed in a totally different light than being soft on the basketball court, to share that with the world, to show the world that, no, as an athlete, you deal with all of these things. Life still continues to go on as you're taking this court. And to really give people a deeper dive into not only the mindset of us, but the actual everyday things that you're going through while dealing with 20,000 people screaming at you. - And speaking of everyday things you're going through, in the midst of filming this and right before the season, you found out your daughter Olive had a health situation, medical situation. And how is these sessions, did any of these sessions help you learn to deal with that? - I think they did because what the session did was it taught me that it was OK to dive into that emotion. I end up missing the start of training camp due to it. And because I missed the start of training camp, as I'm sitting there with her you're totally into that moment, but yet you can't help but think what you're missing in work. And so the moment that realize she's fine, it's like, OK, I'm going to go to work now and never truly took the time to process that and understand how it is affecting me. So I got to camp and was a mess, but I never took the time to slow down and process what I had just gone through. - Well, I'm glad you're sharing all this. And so many people should check this out. It is The Sessions, it was produced by Religion and Sports, which I'm co-founder of. And you can see it on Prime Video right now. Make sure you check it out. Draymond, congratulations again. - Thank you. - Thank you. Appreciate this.
