Transcript for The big names and big moments from 'Live in Front of a Studio Audience'
- Now to Live In Front of a Studio Audience, bringing together another star-studded cast for live performances of episodes of two beloved sitcoms. Janai Norman is here with all the big names and moments from last night. Good morning, Janai. - Good morning. So many big names, and, of course, the big moments that had everyone talking, like cameos from original cast members. Lisa Whelchel, the original Blair, proved to be ageless. So many of the characters were completely spot-on, and the throwback commercials with a twist-- it all made for such a fun night of nostalgia. BOTH: What you talking about, Willis? JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): One of the most popular lines in sitcom history had audiences laughing once again. - I'm about to turn you into a toothpick with my Zowie Zap gun. Zap, zap, zap, zap, zap! JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): Kevin Hart, nailing the part of a reimagined Arnold Jackson. The latest Live In Front of a Studio Audience delivering, again, classic sitcoms reimagined with a star-studded cast. This time, re-enacting episodes of both Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. THEME SONG: You take the good, you take the bad-- - (SINGING) --you take them both, and there you have the facts of life, the facts of life. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): The catchy theme song brought back to life by original cast member Lisa Whelchel, plus cameos by Mindy Cohn and Kim Fields-- - You write your opinions of everyone. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): --who played the original Tootie, played by Gabrielle Union. - This one was written by number six. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): Jennifer Aniston as rich girl Blair. - Dink? I'd know those knees anywhere. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): Another '80s sitcom alum Jason Bateman-- - I would love to bid on your dinner box tonight. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): --played Natalie's love interest, Tim. - What they call a deadhead. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): And Jon Stewart appeared as Karl. BOTH: Do I paint? CARL: I do not paint. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): A mix of the old and the new in the Diff'rent Strokes throwback-- THEME SONG: But they got Diff'rent Strokes. - (SINGING) It takes Diff'rent Strokes, it takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): Boyz II Men performing that iconic theme song. - [HUMMING] JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): John Lithgow took over the part of Conrad Drummond-- - What's all the shouting about? And why is all the-- - --furniture rearranged here? - [WHINING] Willis wanted to divide this room in half. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): --the wealthy widower who adopts Willis and Arnold. - I'm 13, and even though he looks 45, he's just eight. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): While Willis was portrayed by comedian Damon Wayans, Todd Bridges, the original Willis, delighting viewers with a surprise visit. - It's hard to believe that I walked through those doors 43 years ago, back when I had hair. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): And Snoop Dogg, as Willis' friend, Vernon. - Get a load of those Super Mats. - Hey, you better watch it, Verne. JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): Even commercials bringing comical relief. Alfonso Ribeiro starring in classic commercials in between takes. - Whoa, how did this happen? JANAI NORMAN (VOICEOVER): Including one with This Old House's Bob Villa and the Kool-Aid Man, only adding to the '80s nostalgia. That one was really funny. He says, we're going to fix this hole, and the Kool-Aid Man says, "Oh yeah?" So being live allowed for a great ad-lib moment that Damon Wayans already said, Kevin Hart, you know, even though he looks 45, he's only eight. Kevin Hart had a good one, too, about Snoop Dogg. If you know, you know. It was good. You never know what'll happen live. Norman Lear-- words we can't say on TV, but it was a good take. - Well he said them. - Come on, George. - Which do they think-- - You were safely making your way through that tag. - Tiptoe around that. GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: It wasn't easy.
